Vega Ganitha (Vedic Maths)

Mathematics is the bane for many students. To dispel this fear of mathematics, our school conducts classes in Vedic Mathematics, an ancient system of Indian Mathematics, rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji [1884-1960]s.

Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha Swamiji was born on March 14th, 1884. He completed MA in 7 subjects with distinctions in his 20th year. He was a scholar of Sanskrit, Mathematics, History and Philosophy, studied these texts and after lengthy and careful investigations was able to reconstruct the mathematics of the Vedas. He headed Jagannathapuri Matt (Govardhana Peetha) in the year 1925.

According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen sutras, or word formulae. These formulae describes the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.

Salient features of Vedic Mathematics:

  • Coherent, flexible, improves memory, efficient, fast, easy, and fun to work with.
  • Difficult mathematical problems can be solved immediately through mental calculations.
  • To awaken the minds of young people, encourage them to face the turmoil of modern life, instill self-confidence and courage , inspire them to lead a life of morality, love for all living creatures, respect for all, patriotism, cherish Indian traditions and to be good citizens, these are the goals of our teachers.
